Namibia: TotalEnergies' Bold Move to Expand Exploration Horizons
Unveiling the Namibian Adventure: TotalEnergies' Strategic Expansion
TotalEnergies has taken a significant step in its exploration journey, acquiring a 42.5% operated interest in the PEL104 Exploration license, located offshore Namibia. This move solidifies the company's commitment to unlocking the country's prolific resources and creating shared value.
But here's where it gets intriguing: TotalEnergies is not alone in this venture. They will be joined by Petrobras (42.5%), Namcor (10%), and Eight (5%), forming a powerful consortium to explore the vast 11,000 km2 area of the Lüderitz basin.
"We are thrilled to expand our portfolio in Namibia," said Nicolas Terraz, President of Exploration & Production at TotalEnergies. "This new license, coupled with our recent acquisition in PEL83, positions us strongly in the region. As we work towards developing Venus and Mopane discoveries, we aim to create sustainable value for Namibia and all stakeholders involved."
The transaction, however, is subject to approval from Namibian authorities and joint venture partners, adding an element of anticipation to the process.
